Estate Notes

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht was established in 1959 by two wine growing families, Zénon Humbrecht, and Emile Zind, but it wasn't until the 1980s that it rose to the forefront of Alsace wine under the stewardship of Olivier Humbrecht, Master of Wine.

Oliver brought in low yields, biodynamic farming practices with some of the oldest vines and best vineyard sites in Alsace, plus late harvesting to create Zind-Humbrecht's now legendary style.

Zind-Humbrecht owns around 40 hectares of vineyards spread over five different villages in the Haut-Rhin. The steep, relatively high altitude south-facing slopes of the Clos Windsbuhl vineyard often produces Zind's finest wines and is one of the last vineyards to be harvested; yielding aromatic wines with great balancing acidity for good ageing.
