White Burgundy, 2014

2014 was a great white Burgundy vintage, the most consistent for many years (more so than the reds), characterized by the individuality of appellations and vineyards, whose terroirs shone through in the purity of their wines. More generally, the vintage produced fresh, beautifully elegant, charming, balanced wines through all the price points – a rare combination of characteristics.

The year began with unseasonal mild weather, which was abruptly interrupted by localized hail in June (affecting quantity but not quality) and a mixed summer, followed by an Indian summer (with cool nights to preserve freshness) resulting in a slightly above average sized crop.
