White Burgundy, 2012

Despite the challenging weather, 2012 was a good white Burgundy vintage producing a very small crop of dense, concentrated, Chardonnay. Quality was generally good in Chablis (the pick of the bunch), but sporadic in the Côte de Beaune.

Like 2011, the weather was challenging for growers with late frost, poor flowering, mildew and hail all factors that resulted in a lower than average yield of Chardonnay, particularly in Maconnais and Chablis, although slow malolactic conversions brought finesse to some wines.
