Rhône Valley, 2015

2015 was a great northern Rhône vintage (Hermitage, Côte Rôtie, St-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage), and a very good one in the south, with dense, rich, aromatic but fresh reds with wonderful balance.

It’s all thanks to a perfect growing season, with a wet winter, to top up the water table and a dry, hot summer with fresh nights, followed by early September rains, for those vineyards (more so in the north) with altitude on their side. The only downside, in the south, being too much sun and heat (the Mistral) causing some southern reds to be just too ripe and generous, high in alcohol, and lacking acidity.

It was a good to very good vintage for Rhône whites - heady and aromatic.

"The Cuvée Persia is mostly Syrah (with a splash of Mourvèdre), and if there's a Syrah from the south that will stand up to a top Hermitage, this is it." eRobertParker.com

"Sebastien opted to bottle this cuvee separately as he’d never seen Syrah at this level. I can’t argue with him and this is one sensational looking barrel sample that’s reminiscent of a top flight Hermitage." eRobertParker.com
