2012 was a good port vintage, though drought and hail reduced yields dramatically and far fewer houses declared on the back of a great 2011 Port vintage.

However, saying that, many houses have released vintage versions of single-Quinta wines, which although may lack the prestige of Vintage Ports from declared years, are produced from a Port house's finest estate in a single year, and tend to be ready earlier, usually around a decade after harvest. They also provide a true taste of Douro’s terroirs.
