Port, 2011

2011 was an excellent low yielding Port vintage on the back of near drought conditions and an early growing season. It was a universally declared vintage, the first since 2007, and produced some brilliant ports made for longevity in bottle.

However, such was the heat that the vines suffered until several outbursts of rain in late August and early September, which countered high sugar levels and kick-started ripening. The majority of the crop was picked in perfect September conditions – with dry days and cool nights.
