New Zealand, 2016

2015 was a good to very good New Zealand vintage.

The 2016 yield was around a third higher than 2015, which was a very welcome increase for the industry, although it was a challenging year with El Nino causing an unsettled spring and drought-like conditions in some regions.

Marlborough generally produced healthy, ripe fruit of larger than average size, particularly Sauvignon Blanc.
