Champagne, 2009

2009 looks like a very good, if not inconsistent, Champagne vintage despite the weather conditions.

The 2009 Champagne vintage was inconsistent due a wet spring which caused some mildew and then protracted flowering in July that led to uneven ripening at the end of the season. However a hot, dry August made the vintage, the grapes were very healthy, and most growers were able to pick in early September.

Knowing your producers is key in 2009.
