Australia, 2003

2003 produced a low yield of powerful, stylish reds, though there was great inconsistency. Drought was a big factor in 2003, particularly in the east of the country, which limited berry size and bunch development and ultimately restricted yields.

The dry conditions did keep disease at bay and when the rains did come they contributed further to the low yield by causing fruit to split.
