Estate Notes

Two Hands’ Ares Shiraz 2007 is part of the estate's top Flagship Series, and represents the finest Shiraz made by Two Hands Wines - a statuesque, powerful and deeply flavoured wine, which combines elegance and vivacity.

Each year, every one of the estate's 1,500 barrels of Shiraz is tasted in the search of the finest cuvée to represent Ares, the pinnacle of our Shiraz production.

Two Hands was established by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz in 1999 in order to make the best possible wines in the South Australia, and in just ten years their eclectically named wines have consistently won rave reviews.

"Big and brawny, with a dense core of fresh blueberry, currant, raspberry and dusky spice flavors that sprawl over a layer of prickly tannins. It all melds together on the finish, shooting off sparks of espresso and licorice. The afterburners kick in and this sails off into a long coda. Needs time to soften. Shiraz." Wine Spectator

“The 2007 Ares is 100% Shiraz from Barossa and McLaren Vale aged for 24 months in barrel, the last 12 in 100% new French. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it displays an aromatic array of toast, smoke, game, lavender, and blueberry. Dense, ripe, and savory but slightly compact (a common trait in this vintage)...”

"Two Hands is a negociant operation run impeccably by Michael Twelftree. It reflects the best that can be sourced from all over South Australia.” Robert Parker
