Estate Notes

Two Hands Zippy's Block Shiraz 2006 is one of Two Hands' flagship series wines - a single vineyard Shiraz made exclusively from fruit sourced from a single vineyard - the esteemed Marananga in the Barossa Valley.

Mattew Wenk and his team have crafted a real blockbuster here - Zippy's Block 2006 is a truly exceptional Shiraz - concentrated, complex and sophisticated and one of Australia's finest wines. Two hands was established by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz in 1999 in order to make the best possible Shiraz in Australia; and in just ten years their eclectically named wines have consistently won rave reviews.

In fact, Two Hands Wines were listed in Wine Spectator's Top 100 for the last five years and Robert Parker further heaped the praise on, pronouncing Two Hands as "the finest negociant operation south of the equator."

"A glass-coating opaque purple color, it exhibits a complex, expressive nose of pain grille, spice box, scorched earth, plum, and blueberry. This is followed by a mouth-filling, voluminous Shiraz with opulent blue and black fruits, savory flavors, and an exceptionally long, silky finish."

"Ripe, smoky raspberry and blackberry aromas are brightened by cinnamon, clove and violet. Lush, creamy dark berry preserve flavors betray no rough edges and pick up gently tannic notes on the long, juicy finish. Impressively balanced shiraz, with precise dark berry flavors and suave oak spices lingering." Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar

"Two Hands is a negociant operation run impeccably by Michael Twelftree. It reflects the best that can be sourced from all over South Australia."
