Estate Notes

The Royal Tokaji Wine Company, Tokaji Aszu Essencia 1993 is a rare and exceptional Tokaji (in presentation boxes) - an incredibly thick, rich, opulent sweet wine with syrup-like texture.

Essencia is the richest and rarest of all Hungarian Tokaji wines and typically, this free run juice takes 6-8 years to complete its fermentation to less than 3% alcohol.

The Royal Tokaji Wine Company was founded in 1990, and has rapidly become one of the finest wineries in Hungary, concentrating on high quality single vineyard wines from the first growth vineyards of Mezes Maly, Nyulaszo, Szt Tamas and Betsek. Hugh Johnson is a co-founder of the comapny.

Reviews

"Amazingly concentrated, this is like liquid gold. Very thick, rich and a bit heavy, with marmalade, honey and pineapple, it almost has the texture of maple syrup. Incredibly intense on the long, smoky, lemony finish." Wine Spectator
