Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha 2004 was purchased in its original wooden cases.
Taylor's vintage Ports are renowned for their massive structure, concentration of flavour, and distinctively masculine style. This great Port house is also renowned for being amongst the longest lived of all ports.
Taylor's, which remains an independent family-run business since its inception around 300 years ago, is also the market brand leader. It is one of the earliest shippers to acquire vineyards to produce the wine themselves, rather than merely buying from winemakers and then maturing it, thus ensuring a name synonymous with quality.
"The 2004 Quinta de Vargellas has a lovely raisin and fig scented bouquet, mellow and seductive, just a touch of smoke coming through with time. The palate is spicy on the entry with Christmas Cake and clove infusing the red fruit. This feels very harmonious with the tongue tingling with white pepper and fennel towards the satisfying finish. This often overlooked release from Taylor Fladgate deserves your attention." Neal Martin
