Symington's Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port 2017 comes from a great Port Vintage and universally declared, and Vesuvio bottled just 3% of its total vineyard production. It was purchased in its original wooden cases.
The Symington Group bought the Quinta do Vesuvio in 1989, which is one of the greatest and most remote vineyard areas in the entire Douro Valley.
Vesuvio makes port in both declared and non-declared vintages where the quality of the fruit is good enough. Fruit is still trodden by foot in stone lagares as tradition dictates, which makes the finest Ports.
"Plum, raisin and allspice on the nose. Punchy sweet fruit, liquorice and spikey pepper. Tannins quite robust but the works with the flavour profile." David King
"Finished aromas of crushed berry, graphite and stone. Full body, very sweet with a tangy almost sweet and sour character. Distinct flavors of dried oranges and dark berries. Medium tannin structure. Very ripe yet fresh." James Suckling
"A powerful, attention-grabbing wine, with taut muscularity; offers magnificent aromas of rockrose, mint and hints of ginger. The substantial palate is full with expressive black fruit notes lifted by peppery schist tannins, and a long, lingering finish indicates impressive ageing potential." Quinta do Noval
