Estate Notes

Screaming Eagle 2010 is lying in the cellar of our sister company Golden West in San Francisco, and we are pleased to offer this gem of a wine inclusive of shipping to your door*.

Screaming Eagle 2010 is a rare California cult wine, rated a perfect 100 points by Robert Parker, and is one of the Napa's Valley most iconic wines, an absolute legend borne from a fabulous terroir and one of the world's finest winemaking teams. The estate was established by Jean Philips in 1992, making her very first vintage in a plastic rubbish bin from fruit sourced from a gentle, west-facing slope east of the Napa River, where intense heat is tempered by cool afternoon breezes. She took a sample of her her 'homemade' wine to Robert Mondavi, they bottled it and the rest, as they say...

Reviews

"The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon brings together so many of the elements that make Screaming Eagle such a great and distinctive wine. Crushed rocks, graphite, menthol, plums, black cherries and mint all jump from the glass. Power, structure and finesse all come together in this remarkably vivid, dazzling wine. Rain in spring caused a poor set, which lowered yields dramatically, intensifying all of the sensations in the glass. Today, the 2010 is utterly head spinning. In 2010, Screaming Eagle is a bit lower in Cabernet Sauvignon and higher in Merlot than normal." eRobertParker.com

"Brilliant ruby-red. Urgent aromas of crushed boysenberry, wild herbs, licorice and spearmint are complemented by sexy oak tones. Densely packed and electric, with great energy to the highly concentrated, pliant flavors of black fruits, cocoa powder and flowers. Still quite youthfully backward, but the inexorable slowly mounting finish and big but noble tannins suggest a long and glorious evolution in bottle." eRobertParker.com

"Screaming Eagle has an amazing winemaking team in place, including day to day winemaker Andy Erickson, who is backed up by the globe-trotting Bordelais consultant, Michel Rolland." Robert Parker
