Estate Notes

Royal Tokaji's Szt Tamas Tokaji Aszu 6 puttonyos (50cl) 2007 comes in its original wrappers/cartons. Puttonyos denotes the residual sugar level in Tokaji (measured in grams), and Tokaji is graded from 3-6 Puttonyos, with 6 being the sweetest.

The Royal Tokaji Wine Company was founded in 1990, and has rapidly become one of the finest wineries in Hungary, concentrating on high quality single vineyard wines from the first growth vineyards of Mezes Maly, Nyulaszo, Szt Tamas and Betsek. Hugh Johnson is a co-founder of the comapny.

“…perhaps the most complex bouquet of the three single-vineyard aszu wines, adorned with dried honey, Japanese yuzu, just a hint of petrol and stewed mandarins that are all beautifully defined. The palate is extremely well-balanced with wonderful acidity that is embroidered through the pure mandarin, honey, quince and lemon peel. It is very focused with a tense, mineral finish.”

“An opulent version, featuring a thick texture moderated by vivid acidity. Powerful, showing drive to the apricot, peach, vanilla and butterscotch flavors. Well-balanced, with a long finish.” Wine Spectator
