Estate Notes

Roc de Cambes 2009 comes from a great Bordeaux vintage and was purchased in its original wooden cases.

Roc de Cambes is one of the finest estates in the right bank Bordeaux satelite appellation of the Côtes de Bourg and is under the perfectionist winemaker Francois Mitjavile (proprietor of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Le Tertre-Rôteboeuf).

The Côtes de Bourg is a beautiful undulating district dotted with late Medieval fort ruins and commanding stunning views over the Gironde Estuary. Bourg is a lesser-known, underrated Bordeaux district, and, like its neighbour Blaye, its top producers offer very good quality and great value-for-money Claret.

Francois Mitjavile's estate comprises 10 hectares of old vines on a south-facing slope in a natural amphitheatre facing the Gironde. Here, Mitjavile picks his grapes as late as possible to maximise ripeness and concentration, and the resulting wines are rich, stylish and full-bodied.

"Medium dark red. Fragrant violet, raspberry and sweet brown spices on the captivating nose. Then compellingly sweet and tactile, with intense ripe red fruit and chocolate flavors that last and last on the smooth, soft aftertaste. Good wine for the money..." Stephen Tanzer
