Vinous

Vinous is a collaboration between some of the finest and most objective palates on the planet, including: founder Antonio Galloni; Stephen Tanzer (integrating the International Wine Cellar); Joshua Raynolds; Ian D'Agata, and Neal Martin. Its experts visit hundreds of wineries and taste thousands of wines each year.

As well as reviewing and scoring wines, Vinous is a great resource for both wine professionals and enthusiasts.

Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

ROBERT PARKER, THE WINE ADVOCATE

Robert Parker's 'Wine Advocate' is the world's most influential wine publication, and Parker became the world's most powerful wine critic, renowned for his consistency and dynamic quotes.

Robert Parker has now retired, and Lisa Perotti-Brown is the Editor-in-Chief for The Wine Advocate and robertParker.com, leading a team of researchers and writers. The publication is now owned by the Michelin Guide.

Average to very good wines score in the 80s; outstanding wines 90-95 points, while 96+ is reserved for the extraordinary.

Wine Spectator 

WINE SPECTATOR

The Wine Spectator is an American periodical whose tasting notes and scores are highly regarded amongst the wine trade and American consumers. Wines are tasted 'blind' to maximise objectivity.

Scores in the 80s are reserved for good to very good wines; 90-94 outstanding, whilst 95+ are deemed classic.

JAMES SUCKLING

James Suckling is one of the world's most respected wine critics, revered by wine lovers, wine collectors, and the wine trade. James is  CEO/Editor of JamesSuckling.com (with a team of tasters), and has himself tasted close to 225,000 wines over his career, which began in 1981 when he became an assistant editor at the Wine Spectator. James moved to Paris to establish Wine Spectator’s European bureau, and he still lives near Florence, part of the year, as well as in Hong Kong and Napa Valley. In total, Suckling spent nearly 30 years as Senior Editor and European Bureau Chief of The Wine Spectator. On his departure from the magazine, Forbes called the Los Angeles-born writer, 'one of the world’s most powerful wine critics'.

JamesSuckling.com has more than 120,000 wine ratings, and also organises about 20 wine events each year around the world for 600 to 1,200 participants at venues in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul and Bangkok.

 

 

Tom Cannavan 

TOM CANNAVAN, wine-pages.com

Tom Cannavan established wine-pages.com back in 1995, and is a true pioneer of the Internet. Tom is an accomplished wine writer, and his industry recognitions include the Louis Roederer International Online Wine Writer of the Year and the Portuguese wine industry’s award as Wine Journalist of the Year, plus the prestigious International Wine Communicator of the Year 2018.

Tom is also a popular broadcaster on TV and radio; having made 100+ live broadcasts for Scottish Television’s magazine show, The Hour and being resident wine expert on BBC Radio Scotland. Tom has carved a reputation in print too, writing for Decanter, World of Fine Wine, The Financial Times and The Independent amongst others. Tom has also written or contributed to 10 wine books, including The Wine Report, the Which? Wine Guide and the Good Web Guide to Wine. He is also an experienced wine judge, and has been Panel Chairman at competitions including The International Wine Challenge in London and Radici Competition in Italy.

Tom also created the festival-of-wine.com, which features the world’s finest winemakers and UK wine merchants in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London.
