Domaine de Chevalier
Domaine de Chevalier is owned by the Bernard family and its recent success can be attributed to Olivier Bernard who instigated an extensive replanting program from 1988 to 1995 and oversaw the construction of new winemaking facilities including a modern vat room, which has since been updated in 2014.
Domaine de Chevalier has a wonderfully unique and complex terroir comprising 40 hectares of vines on gravel and black sand with a sub-soil of a clay and gravel. The estate produces both fine red and white Bordeaux using sustainable methods, including organic fertilizers. Grapes are vinified in parcels and a third of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels and aged for 18-22 months.
