Domaine Pierre Bouree, Clos de La Roche Grand Cru, Burgundy, France 2018
Opulent red fruits and fresh blackberry, with violet and old rose floral notes and refined spice. Velvety fresh depth.
|Grape Blend||Pinot Noir 100%|
Pierre Bourée's 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is a limited availability fine red Burgundy with a great heritage, from the village commune of Morey-Saint-Denis.
Grapes for this great 2018 Clos de la Roche vintage were handpicked to ensure quality, and the wine was aged for 16 months in oak barrels where it gained greater complexity and structure. A truly gastronomic Pinot Noir, that would suit game in particular.
The Clos de la Roche is a semi-monopole, with a long history that has involved movement of its boundaries, and was awarded Grand Cru status in 1936. Facing east/slightly south of east at around 250 metres above sea-level, the Clos du Roche is often regarded as a southerly extension of the Grands Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Pierre Bourée still uses old wooden vats rather than stainless steel and the grapes are trodden by foot. And last but not least, Bourée only release their fine wines when they are ready to drink - a very refreshing practice in today's market.
Opulent red fruits and fresh blackberry, with violet and old rose floral notes and refined spice. Velvety fresh depth, very concentrated centre with great mineral base, very long fruit development and spread on the finish.
