Estate Notes

Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2015 is part of the Penfolds 'Icon and Luxury Range'. It is a traditional style first created in the early 1950s, and unlike Penfolds Grange it does not use new oak.

St Henri is characterised by its rich, plush texture when young, gaining soft, earthy, mocha-like characters as it ages, and 2015 was an exceptional year in the quality of the fruit. It hasn't succumbed to fashion since it’s first release in 1950 and a small proportion of Cabernet provides structure with a feint hint of oak from 50-year-old foudres (large oak vats).

Reviews

“…the antithesis of a ‘show wine’, Penfolds' much loved and admired St Henri Shiraz continues to plough its own furrow in glorious style…cocoa powder and summer pudding with a touch of mocha…red and black fruits, dark chocolate, graphite and liquorice. Superbly structured, juicily vibrant, sweet and balanced...” John Stimpfig, Decanter

“Black olive and plum notes…Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives a bit of lift and a leafy, floral note on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied, with a firm, structured feel and ample tannins...” eRobertParker.com
