Estate Notes

Penfold's Grange is one of Australia's finest wines, and this 1983 has a fill level of 'very top shoulder'.

Penfolds Grange is one of Australia's finest and most famous wines, officially listed as a heritage icon of South Australia: a wine of extraordinary dimension and power. It has maintained its place as Australia's most prestigious red wine over four decades, and each vintage is eagerly awaited by collectors both in Australia and overseas.

Prior to 1989 Penfolds Grange used 'Hermitage' in the label before the European Union banned it from using a recognisable French wine place name.

Reviews

"...an impressive Grange. A deep garnet hue. Very sweet on the nose like the 1982 but more obvious and less nuanced: cassis and shoe-polish, with iodine developing. The palate is very smooth, a little meaty with blueberry and cassis on the extravagant almost Tuscan-like finish." Robert Parker
