Estate Notes

Penfolds' Grange 1982 is an absolute classic - full-bodied, opulent and seductive.

The Grange is one of Australia's finest and most famous wines, officially listed as a heritage icon of South Australia: a wine of extraordinary dimension and power. It has maintained its place as Australia's most prestigious red wine over four decades, and each vintage is eagerly awaited by collectors both in Australia and overseas.

Prior to 1989 Penfolds Grange used 'Hermitage' in the label before the European Union banned it from using a recognisable French wine place name.

"One of the jammiest, most precocious Granges when it was released, it has never gone through a closed stage and continues to drink beautifully. A full-bodied, opulent Grange, it reveals an inky/purple color to the rim as well as a beautiful nose of crushed blueberries, blackberries, smoke, toast, roasted herbs, and road tar. This dense, plush, expansive, seamless, seductive 1982 has not changed much since I had it nearly a decade ago." Robert Parker

"Packed with bright flavors, raspberry and red plum dominating, with great length and sweet tannins to suggest a long life. Harmonious and elegant beneath focused power." Wine Spectator
