Estate Notes

Penfolds Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is a very recent addition to the Penfolds stable - a contemporary sub-regional Shiraz from the ancient soils of Marananga in the Barossa Valley - and a great introduction to the Penfolds range.

The Marananga vineyard benefits from warm dry conditions and rich red soils, which provide the backbone to some of the region’s best known wines. A contemporary Shiraz alternative, framed by a mix of oaks; French and American, old and new – crafted in accordance with the traditional Penfolds method.

Reviews

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz offers classic Maranaga notes of baked berries, preserved plums and blueberry pie with incense, mincemeat, licorice and spice box hints. Full-bodied and concentrated, it’s wonderfully rich and spicy in the mouth with velvety tannins and great length. This is beautifully expressive of the sub-region." eRobertParker.com

"A relatively recent arrival into the Penfolds Bin range, and has been a success from the outset. A dense and rich full-bodied shiraz, with a phalanx of purple and black fruits framed by 14 months maturation in French and American oak. Ripe tannins put the seal on the future of a long-lived wine." James Halliday
