Estate Notes

Jaboulet is very much a family affair and has been for around 150 years. At present seven Jaboulets control the marketing, finance and winemaking for 28 different wines drawn from 90 hectares that include almost all of the prestigious appellations in the northern half of the Valley.

Hermitage La Chapelle is the estate’s flagship wine drawn from 40-year-old Syrah vines from the steep, sun-drenched southfacing vineyards around a 13th century chapel of Saint Christophe at the top of Hermitage hill.

Reviews

"Fantastic quality makes your palate spin with joy. Warm July and August with timely rains were a recipe for greatness, and this is a vin de garde. Seamless and silky, but also with a firm backbone of mineral, wet earth, plum, blackberry and leather notes. An old-fashioned red with a long finish." Wine Spectator (1999)
