Estate Notes

Le Fonti's entry level young vines Sangiovese is a fleshy, juicy mouthful and great value-for-money - a great introduction to this truly impressive range of wines from this stable - and a wine that improves with every vintage.

Le Fonti was bought in the mid 1950s by the Imberti family and the current owners, Franca and Ferdinando also manage a business in Milan but actively follow the work at the estate. They have invested heavily and replanted solely with Sangiovese in the 1990s, and in their search for excellence they appointed young agronomist, Lorenzo Bernini and employ the famed and talented oenologist Paolo Caciorgna.

It is particularly warmer here than other Chianti growing areas such as Panzano or Radda, the berries ripen earlier and are perhaps more fleshy and generous.

Fully ripe with lifted floral notes and toasted spice, underlying black cherry fruit aromas, and fresh mineral base. Well balanced and rounded core, light tannins, and a good spread of fruit and spice behind.
