Estate Notes

Domaine Lagneau's Côte de Brouilly 2014 is an equally stunning follow-on to the 2013 vintage, which was awarded ‘Oustanding in Class’ at Decanter’s World Wine awards.

But then we wouldn't expect anything less from the brilliant, dedicated and charming couple, Gérard and Jeannine Lagneau, who make real Beaujolais from just 1.5 acres of the appellation’s finest vineyard site. Gérard and Jeannine are a wonderful welcoming couple – with Jeannine’s youthful, light-hearted manner offset by the more reserved and serious Gérard, who no doubt saves his energy for his six o’clock starts in the vineyard! Although, their equally charming son, Didier, is coming more to the fore in the winemaking and early morning starts.

There are 10 Beaujolais Crus (village appellations), including the Côte de Brouilly, which account for the finest Beaujolais. Each cru has its own unique style and this brilliant old vines (vieilles vignes) Brouilly is rich, concentrated and an absolute knock-out!

Reviews

Fresh and ripe with notes of blackcurrant, cherry and smoky spice. Good balance and spread of flavours, with finely integrated tannins, attractive cherry fruit, and spice and liquorice in the development and finish.
