Estate Notes

Henschke is regarded as the best medium-sized red wine producer in Australia, and has gone from strength to strength over the past three decades under the guidance of winemaker Stephen Henschke and viticulturist Prue Henschke.

The red wines fully capitalise on very old, low-yielding, high-quality vines from the Eden Valley and are superbly made with sensitive but positive use of small new oak barrels.

The label Cyril Henschke is a tribute to one of Australia’s outstanding winemaking pioneers, who planted Cabernet Sauvignon at Eden Valley in the 1960s.

Reviews

"Medium-bodied; elegant, finely structured style; a subtle interplay of blackcurrant, earth, olive and fine French oak; long, balanced finish. Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc/Merlot." James Halliday

"...exhibits a Bordeaux-like austerity as well as aromas and flavors of tobacco smoke, licorice, spice box, red currants, black currants, and sweet cherries. With an elegant, bright, zesty personality." eRobertParker.com
