Estate Notes

Fonseca Vintage Port 2003 was purchased in its origional wooden cases.

Fonseca's house style is one of richness and warmth, and lush fruit intensity. While it may lack the power of Taylor's and Warre's, and the opulence of Graham's, it is without doubt the most voluptuous, exotic and complex of port styles.

"The 2003 Fonseca has a rich, well-defined bouquet of black cherries, aniseed, kirsch and dark chocolate that is heady and seductive. The palate is full-bodied with sweet ripe fig and mulberry notes forming the entry. There is fatness here, a viscosity that coats the mouth, although fortunately there is acidity to keep everything in balance. Warm on the finish, a hint of eau-de-vie lingers after the Port has departed."

"Prune and hints of aniseed and stems. Full-bodied and medium-sweet, with soft tannins and a fruity finish." Wine Spectator
