Estate Notes

Domaine Fondrèche's Ventoux Rouge 2016 is an organic spicy, medium-full bodied southern French red, which offers Châteauneuf-du-Pape like flavours at a fraction of the price. A truly great buy from the spectacular Ventoux region and the incresaingly lauded winemaker Sebastien Vincenti.

The Ventoux Rouge received a full year’s élevage (ageing); in small barrels for the Syrah and Mourvèdre and larger casks and small ovoid cuves for the Grenache. This exciting blend, so redolent of the south, keeps getting better with every vintage. So much wine for so little price!

Sébastien Vincenti and Nanou Barthélemy’s Domaine de Fondrèche is widely recognised as one of the very best producers in the Ventoux appellation. What is more, their wines remain exceptional value, despite the ever increasing fame and demand.

Reviews

“The glass-staining 2016 Ventoux Rouge…boasts knockout aromas of black cherries and blueberries. It's a medium to full-bodied wine, creamy-supple in texture…dried herbs and baking spices adding complexity…a screaming value.” eRobertParker.com

Mineral, fresh and concentrated, showing intense ripe red fruits, blackberry and cherry aromas, restrained and elegant, with broad spice and notes of lavender, violet and liquorice. Elegant, concentrated, beautifully fresh, structured and integrated, with deep mineral base, lovely spread of fruit and spice on the development. Long and mineral on the finish.
