Estate Notes

Domaine Fondrèche's Ventoux Rouge 2015 is an organic spicy, medium-full bodied southern French red, which offers Châteauneuf-du-Pape like flavours at a fraction of the price. A truly great buy from the spectacular Ventoux region and the incresaingly lauded winemaker Sebastien Vincenti.

The Ventoux Rouge received a full year’s élevage (ageing); in small barrels for the Syrah and Mourvèdre and larger casks and small ovoid cuves for the Grenache. This exciting blend, so redolent of the south, keeps getting better with every vintage. So much wine for so little price!

Sébastien Vincenti and Nanou Barthélemy’s Domaine de Fondrèche is widely recognised as one of the very best producers in the Ventoux appellation. What is more, their wines remain exceptional value, despite the ever increasing fame and demand.

Winemaker Sebastien Vincenti loves his terroir and believes that his vines are stronger when treated naturally, including 100% organic manure, no chemical herbicides, and complimentary planting between rows to prevent erosion, promote microbial life and aerate the soil.

“The 2015 Cotes de Ventoux is a straight up great...aged in one-third each concrete eggs, foudre and barrels, its saturated purple colour is followed by rockin’ notes of black and blue fruits, olive, graphite and saddle leather, with just a kiss of barrique. Long, elegant and with a supple finish, you’re not going to find this quality at this price very often."

Rich but refined spice, a high note of wild lavender, and sweet leather, liquorice and deep minerality below.  Wonderful velvety concentration and balance.
