Estate Notes

Sebastien Vincenti’s organic spicy, full-bodied reds from the eponymous mountain-dominated Ventoux region offer Châteauneuf-du-Pape like flavours at a fraction of the price, wowing the likes of Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson and Decanter Magazine.

Domaine Fondrèche's Rouge 2013 is an exciting new departure for Fondrèche. Gone are the two previous cuvées of Fayard and Nadal in order to produce one wine truly representative of the quality of Fondreche with a full year’s élevage in small barrels for the Syrah and Mourvèdre, and larger casks and small ovoid cuves for the Grenache. The result is characterfully generous and polished.

This move reflects Fondrèche's new range of wines, which have been revamped on the basis of 20 years' worth of studying its terroirs.

"Dark purple. Ripe cherry and cassis aromas are complicated by suggestions of cracked pepper and licorice. Spicy black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors open up with air and show good depth and clarity. The spicy quality carries through the finish, which features supple tannins and a whisper of allspice." Josh Raynolds

Elegant flowers and aromatic herb (lavender, violet, sarriette/summer savoury) married to pure fresh black fruits, cherry, light kirsch, liquorice, and lightly torrefied spice; fine depth and mineral base. Very stylish balance and concentration, focused on front and centre palates, with rich aromatic tannins encased in fruit, mineral and fresh beneath, and long broad spicy development and finish.
