Estate Notes

Fondrèche's excellent new southern French white reflects its new range of wines, which have been revamped on the basis of 20 years' worth of studying its various terroirs.

The 2014 Blanc vintage has benefited from the addition of Vermentino and a higher proportion of Roussanne in the blend. It is more complex than the old l'Eclat Blanc but retains its mineral signature. It is fermented in oak barrel and cask, then racked immdediately, put into tank with the lees and bottled after six months.

Winemaker Sebastien Vincenti loves his terroir and believes that his vines are stronger when treated naturally, including 100% organic manure, no chemical herbicides, and complimentary planting between rows to prevent erosion, promote microbial life and aerate the soil.

"Light yellow. Deep-pitched orchard and pit fruit aromas pick up a smoky nuance with air, along with suggestions of lemon pith and honey. Broad and fleshy on entry and then drier in the middle, offering juicy pear and nectarine flavors and a suggestion of ginger. Closes spicy and smooth, showing very good clarity and repeating smokiness."

"...this domaine has a unique terroir and produces a bevy of high-quality wines that emphasize purity and freshness, without ever skimping on fruit or texture." Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate

Fresh and zesty with good ripe depth, showing notes of white fruits, grapefruit, flowers and inconspicuous oak. Fine volume and structure with deep minerality and creamy roundness; good wide spread of fruit behind and long finish.
