Clients wishing to buy fine wines
If you are interested in buying Fine Wines we are here to help. Whether you wish to start a small collection with a few choice wines or make a larger investment, we can accommodate your needs.
Clients wishing to sell fine wines
We buy fine wines from private collectors and the trade and offer competitive prices. We can sell them on your behalf on a broking basis with 10% commission charged on the sale price. Or, perhaps it is more convenient for you to immediately realise the value of your wines. If so, we would be happy to quote you a price to purchase your wines if they are suitable to us.
To attain the best value for your fine wines it is important to have good provenance and storage history. Wines from the classic winemaking regions of Europe (particularly Bordeaux and Burgundy) are most desirable, however certain up and coming new world wines will be considered.
Complete cases in clean original packaging are preferred but single bottles will also be considered. To achieve the best price for your wines, original packaging, condition and proof of provenance are paramount. A valuation will be in correlation to the condition and storage status (In Bond or Duty Paid) of the wines.
In Bond Wines: If possible, please provide a current condition report and warehouse certificate or detailed storage invoice as proof of ownership. Any additional information to help with provenance would be appreciated.
Duty Paid Wines: An indication of when you bought the wine and the location and condition of storage will be helpful. It is likely an inspection of the wine will be required to ascertain its sale value.
Private Cellar Valuations: We are prepared to come to you and assess the wines in your cellar. We can advise which wines are worth selling and those to keep and drink.
Commission: 10% commission charged on the pre-agreed sale price. A minimum rate of £40 will be applied to any cases or bottle valued at or below £400. A sale will not be confirmed without checking with you first, however we will consider an agreed period to sell the wines and then review again should a sale not be achieved.
Immediate Sale: We are happy to provide a quote to purchase your wines outright if this is more convenient for you.
Other Costs: Additional deductions for logistical and warehousing costs may be applied. No charge for wines already lying with London City Bond.
