Estate Notes

Dow's 1994 Vintage Port comes from one of the finest port vintages of the latter half of the 20th century, which was universally declared; producing wines of wonderfully ripe fruit with superb ageing potential. It was purchased in its original wooden case.

Dow's Vintage Ports, aged in wood for approximately two years and bottled unfiltered. The house has followed a policy of investing in premium quality vineyards for over a century, and was one of the first port houses to buy quintas (vineyards) in the remote eastern reaches of the Douro Valley at the end of the 19th century.

The backbone of Dow's Vintage Ports is drawn from the company's finest vineyards - the Quinta do Bomfim and Senhora da Riberia – each property contributing to the wine's unique character and class.

"Impressively hard and powerful, but very closed for the moment. It should age for many decades. Dark ruby, with rich raspberry and earth aromas, full-bodied, with an excellent balance of full tannins and generous berry flavors." Wine Spectator

"The 1977, still a baby, is fabulously scented, very rich and concentrated, and has a potential longevity of at least another 30-50 years."
