Estate Notes

Dow's Vintage Port 1977 was purchased in its original wooden cases and comes from a great Port vintage.

For over a century Dow's has followed a policy of investing in premium quality vineyards, and was one of the first port houses to buy quintas (vineyards) in the remote eastern reaches of the Douro valley at the end of the 19th century.

The backbone of Dow's Vintage Ports is drawn from the company's finest vineyards - the Quinta do Bomfim and Senhora da Riberia – each property contributing to the wine's unique character and class.

Aged in wood for approximately 2 years and bottled unfiltered, Dow's Vintage Ports are considered to be amongst the finest Vintage Ports produced.

"Impressively hard and powerful, but very closed for the moment. It should age for many decades. Dark ruby, with rich raspberry and earth aromas, full-bodied, with an excellent balance of full tannins and generous berry flavors." Wine Spectator

"The 1977, still a baby, is fabulously scented, very rich and concentrated, and has a potential longevity of at least another 30-50 years."
