Zind-Humbrecht's Riesling Grand Cru Brand 2005 was purchased in its original cases.

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht was established in 1959 by two wine growing families - Zénon Humbrecht and Emile Zind, but it wasn't until the 1980s that it rose to the forefront of Alsace wine under the stewardship of Olivier Humbrecht, Master of Wine.

Oliver brought in low yields, biodynamic farming practices with some of the oldest vines and best vineyard sites in Alsace, plus late harvesting to create Zind-Humbrecht's now legendary fine white wine style.

Zind-Humbrecht owns around 40 hectares of vineyards spread over five different villages in the Haut-Rhin and is renowned for yielding aromatic fine white wines with great balancing acidity for good ageing.

"Medium gold-tinged yellow. Peach, blood orange, menthol and nutmeg on the nose, complicated by a distinctly stony, slatey quality. Then bright and penetrating on the palate, with musky green papaya, pink grapefruit and lichee flavors offering noteworthy precision and poise. Lasts well on the juicy, perfumed aftertaste. This gives an impression of greater sweetness and softness than the more linear, almost straightforward Rangen." Ian D'Agata
