Estate Notes

Domaine Leflaive has been described as Burgundy’s greatest white wine domaine, and while this is a pretty strong claim, it is a justifiable one.

Leflaive has been bio-dynamic since 1997 and was managed by the late and great Anne-Claude. Anne-Claude had the greatest respect for Burgundy tradition and was deeply concerned about the irreversible damage caused to Burgundy soil by fertilisers and pesticides.

She followed organic methods and helped establish a winemaking school at the domaine in Puligny-Montrachet (the Ecole du Vin et des Terroirs), in order to educate wine professionals. Her pursuit of excellence in winemaking brought her many accolades, including Decanter Magazine’s top white winemaker in 2006 and Winemakers' Winemaker by the Institute of Masters of Wine in 2014 – a massive achievement. Her legacy lives on...

“The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet caresses the palate with soft, expressive fruit. This beautiful, open Puligny villages will delight readers pretty much upon release. Hints of smoke, slate and crushed rocks are layered into the textured, inviting finish. It is another terrific entry-level offering from Leflaive.”

"Bright pale yellow. Pure, subtle aromas of peach, lemon, floral oils and spices. Silky, suave and gentle but with excellent density for village wine. Quite laid-back today, with good mineral tension from start to finish. Finishes long and youthfully tight, and noticeably less sweetness than the very promising Bourgogne Blanc (also in tank) that preceded it in my tasting." Stephen Tanzer
