Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot's 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes is one of the most powerful white Burgundies in our cellar with impressive concentration and a magnificent, long finish.
Owner/winemaker Jean-Marc has been in charge of the family domaine since 1991, and is at the top of his game. His wines spend around 12 months in oak before a further 6 months in steel, where they gain precision and drive.
Les Chenevottes is situated at the northern end of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation at the base of the Montrachet hill, and typically produces rounded and medium-bodied whites, with nutty, herbaceous characters and real verve. The vineyard is planted with some of the domaine's oldest vines dating from the 1950s.
"Bright pale yellow. Lovely perfumed lift to the delineated aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers. Penetrating, energetic wine with a strong impression of salinity and dusty extract. The crop level here was 45 hectoliters per hectare but this wine, from a 1949 planting, is wonderfully plush and silky without any weightiness, conveying a tactile impression of concentration. Finishes lemon-limey and long." Stephen Tanzer
