Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru 2000 was purchased in its original case.
Jean Grivot's exceptionally pure, elegant Pinot Noirs are consistently poised at the pinnacle of premium Burgundy. Since Etienne took over from his father in 1990 he has traded lesser quality vineyards for more prestigious parcels within Burgundy's best sites and his holdings now cover a staggering 15 different appellations! Etienne practices a gentle and non-intrusive Burgundian winemaking style, believing that dense planting for small crops fully expresses the character of his full, rich Pinot Noir fruit.
"Good full red. Black cherry, plum, minerals, tar and chocolate on the nose, along with mellow wood scents; high-pitched and primary for the year. Very strong entry, then vibrant and focused in the middle. Finishes ripe, long and rather uncompromising, with fine, horizontal tannins that coat the molars. Should be long-lived in the context of the vintage." Stephen Tanzer
"A concentrated, tightly-wound wine, the medium to dark-ruby-colored 2000 Richebourg has a dark berry-laden nose. Powerful and dense, it is highly structured, crammed with black berries, and deep." robertparker.com
