Domaine de Fondrèche Rouge 2019
"...impressively concentrated notes of rich mixed berries...it'll likely be one of the finest values to be found in the Southern Rhône." robertparker.com
|Grape Blend||Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre|
Domaine Fondrèche's 2019 Rouge is a spicy, medium-full bodied southern French red, which offers Châteauneuf-du-Pape like flavours at a fraction of the price. A truly great fine red wine from the spectacular Ventoux region and the increasingly lauded winemaker Sebastien Vincenti.
The Ventoux Rouge received a full year's élevage; in small barrels for the Syrah and Mourvèdre and larger casks and small ovoid cuves for the Grenache. This exciting blend, so redolent of the south, keeps getting better with every vintage. So much wine for so little price!
Winemaker Sebastien Vincenti loves his terroir and believes that his vines are stronger when treated naturally, including 100% organic manure, no chemical herbicides, and complimentary planting between rows to prevent erosion, promote microbial life and aerate the soil.
"...impressively concentrated notes of rich mixed berries on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied and supple, folding in blueberries, black cherries and more savory notes of roasted meat and black olives. The wine turns velvety on the lengthy finish, adding a hint of licorice. Although the retail price is yet to be finalized, it'll likely be one of the finest values to be found in the Southern Rhône." robertparker.com
