1990 was an excellent Champagne vintage with Robert Parker rating the 1990 Dom Pérignon a stunning 98 points!
Dom Pérignon is named after the Benedictine monk and cellar master at Hautvillers, creator and refiner of sparkling wine making in the late 17th century. The quality of Cuvée Dom Pérignon is attributed to the fact that it is only made in truly exceptional vintage years from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; which are picked from only the very best crus of the entire region.
If you are serious about Champagne, then this classic is seriously for you. An absolute blockbuster of a dinner party style, guaranteed to wow your guests - if you can bear to share.
"Medium lemon-straw colour. Intensely fragrant nose with aromas of jasmine, cinnamon buttered toast, stewed apples and preserved ginger. Concentrated honey-nut, warm apple tart and spice flavours fill the mouth giving ample flesh to the firm, fine structure. The bubbles are still remarkably frisky and, in harmony with the crisp backbone of acid, make for a relatively youthful, elegant and exquisitely balanced wine. Very long finish." robertparker.com
