Dog Point Vineyard's 's 2019 Sauvignon Blanc is a complex, intense Sauvignon style with a lovely salty, linear feel. A classically styled Marlborough rendition of this noble varietal, the 2019 vintage is crying out for a seafood platter.
Grapes for Dog Point's 2019 vintage were hand-picked to ensure quality from vineyards in the Wairau Valley.
Dog Point is one of the earliest private vineyards established in the Wairau Valley and has some of the oldest vines. Dog Point Vineyard is also the largest organic Biogro certified vineyard in New Zealand, with practices including turning winery waste a healthy organic compost and collecting leachate to use as fertiliser to help conserve moisture and improve soil structure, plus the planting of buckwheat between the vines to encourage beneficial insects for biological control of insect pests. Over the winter months, sheep are brought onto the property to control grass and weed growth and assist in adding organic matter to the soil.
"Intense, precise sauvignon blanc with grapefruit, citrus, subtle passionfruit and a suggestion of struck flint character. A powerful wine that's long and linear, with strong varietal definition that's made more interesting with a hint of reductive character." Bob Campbell MW
"Perhaps the most complex regular Savvy I can recall from Dog Point, the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc offers up aromas that range from subtle notions of garden peas to melon, nectarine and pink grapefruit. It's medium-bodied and silky in texture, generous yet crisp, with a focused, slightly chalky and deliciously lingering finish." robertperker.com
