Clos Du Clocher, Pomerol, Bordeaux, France 2016
"...supple tannin, finely judged acidity, a slightly lactic texture and flecks of dark chocolate toward the finish, which fans out nicely. A composed and refined Pomerol..." Antonio Galloni
|Grape Blend||Merlot 79%, Cabernet Franc 21%|
Clos du Clocher 2016 was purchased in its original wooden cases and comes from a great Bordeaux vintage.
Clos du Clocher is an elegant Pomerol style and a wonderfully pure expression of the vineyard's terroir - perfect for short- medium-term drinking for the vintage.
Annual production is just 2000 cases and the legendary consultant Michel Rolland consistently produces fine red wines of real elegance from a modest 7 hectares. In a diminishing field, this elegant style is one of Pomerols very best values, despite the fact that its fame is gaining on the back of excellent vintages.
"The 2016 Clos du Clocher is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and very earthy on the nose with cigar box, forest floor, truffles and charcoal aromas with black cherries and baked red and black plums. Elegantly styled, the palate is medium-bodied with perfumed fruit, a fine-grained frame and a long refreshing finish." robertparker.com
"The 2016 Clos du Clocher has a rich, opulent bouquet with layers of macerated small black cherries, crème de cassis and violet aromas. There is brightness and vivacity here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, finely judged acidity, a slightly lactic texture and flecks of dark chocolate toward the finish, which fans out nicely. This will need time, but it is very promising. A composed and refined Pomerol from Jean-Baptiste Bourotte." Antonio Galloni
