Estate Notes

Château de Fonbel 2008 was purchased in its original cases and is a great chance to taste the pure quality of Saint-Émilion at a very reasonable price.

Château de Fonbel is beautifully sited near the medieval town of Saint-Émilion and is managed by Alain and (daughter) Pauline Vauthier of Château Ausone fame who have significantly improved the quality of Fonbel's wines using the same highly successful techniques and skill they employ at the great Ausone.

Reviews

"This medium-bodied St.-Emilion reveals excellent depth, ripeness, freshness, and vibrancy as well as velvety tannins.” Robert Parker

"Blueberry cobbler, blackberry jam and fig sauce notes are wrapped up with a lightly aggressive, roasted espresso note, which leaves a firm feel on the finish.” Wine Spectator
