Estate Notes

Château Pontet-Canet 2004 was purchased in its origional wooden case and is in pristine condition. It is a reflection of the classically styled Bordeaux vintage - one for the traditionalists.

Pontet-Canet is a fifth growth on paper, yet not in reality, and produces classic left bank Bordeaux of quality well above its 5th growth status in the Bordeaux classification. While Pontet-Canet's wines are not in the same league as its neighbour Château Mouton Rothschild, they have improved dramatically in the last decade and offer unrivaled Bordeaux value-for-money.

"A brilliant effort...Pontet-Canet’s 2004 may ultimately prove to be a better wine than its more famous neighbor, Mouton Rothschild..."

"Full-bodied, with lovely currant, licorice and mint. Long and caressing. Very refined and balanced. Another winner from Pontet-Canet." Wine Spectator
