Château MontRosé 2009
"Hallelujah...rich, super concentrated and yet superbly harmonious with a firm backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and mineral laced." robertparker.com - 100 points
Château Montrose 2009 is a 100-point Parker rated wine, and comes from a great Bordeaux vintage. It was purchased in its original wooden case.
Parker, said of the 2009 vintage that it was, 'unquestionably the greatest Bordeaux vintage I have ever tasted,' and awarded an unprecedented 19 wines (18 red, 1 white) his magical 100 point rating.
More often than not, Parker’s 100-point ratings are awarded to wines at the more expensive end of the spectrum. However, in 2009 Parker also identified several more relatively affordable wines.
Montrose's success, as ever, was based on low yields. This is a classic Montrose style with incredible extract and its signature crème de cassis dimension.
Montrose is enjoying a grand period in its history. Over recent years it has been arguably the most reliable of all Saint-Estèphe Cru Classés: accounting for muscular, masculine Bordeaux.
"Hallelujah—what a glorious nose! The deep garnet colored 2009 Montrose features beautiful Black Forest cake, licorice, crème de cassis and warm blueberries scents with hints of charcoal, truffles, tapenade and menthol plus a waft of star anise. The palate is full-bodied, rich, super concentrated and yet superbly harmonious with a firm backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and mineral laced." robertparker.com
