Estate Notes

Château Monbousquet 2000 was purchased in original wooden cases and is a great value from one of the greatest ever Bordeaux vintages.

Château Monbousquet experienced mixed fortunes in the 20th century, and sadly its name as a great Saint-Émilion became synonymous with dull, dilute unattractive wines.

However, the French supermarket magnet, Gérard Perse, who took over in the early 1990s oversaw a complete renovation of the cellar and vineyards and hired the legendary Bordeaux consultant winemaker, Michel Rolland. The quality of Monbousquet's wines literally soared and have been consistently excellent ever since.

"…a seductive, rich, generously endowed effort revealing plenty of spice box, herb, black currant, kirsch, espresso, and toasty oak characteristics in a decidedly modern, but opulent, fleshy style. Enjoy this endearing, long, velvety-textured St.-Emilion over the next decade." Robert Parker
