Estate Notes

Lynch-Bages has been in the Cazes family for the last 70 years, and the current proprietor, Jean-Michel Cazes, constantly champions the wines of Lynch-Bages, Pauillac and Bordeaux. So much so, that President Chirac bestowed upon him France’s highest decoration – a Knighthood in the Legion of Honour.

Known fondly in the trade as Lunch Bags, this phrase is perhaps more appropriate now than ever given the redevelopment of the hamlet of Bages, which now boasts a stylish café and bakery – perfect for lunchtime stops!

The 1998 Bordeaux vintage is a source of some great value early drinking wines.

"Highly aromatic nose of dark berries, shoe polish, minerals, mint and flowers. Juicy and minerally in the mouth." Stephen Tanzer

“...notes of new saddle leather, tobacco, olives, and black fruits. Although not a big, concentrated Pauillac, it is graceful, elegant, with character and style.” Robert Parker
