Château Léoville Las Cases 2009 is a great wine from a great Bordeaux vintage.
Léoville Las Cases is the most legendary wine of Saint-Julien: on a quality par with the Médoc's first growths, without the hefty price premium to match, it is the prime example of a Bordeaux 'super-second'.
At Léoville Las Cases the grapes are fermented at lower than average temperatures, which is partially responsible for the wines displaying some of the most exotic aromas and aromatic richness in the Médoc.
"Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Léoville Las Cases rocks up with a drop-dead gorgeous nose of baked blackberries, warm plums and crème de cassis with suggestions of violets, rose hip tea, dark chocolate, menthol and sandalwood. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated and decadent in the mouth, it has super ripe, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and exotic." robertparker.com
